REGULATING NY
 

This is the study into how New York City is governed by a complex set of agencies and institutions. The main themes are:

  1. To introduce the city as a heterogeneous entity, which is produced through the different practices of individuals.
  2. To introduce the notions of 'order' and 'disorder' within the city.
  3. To consider different forms of regulation in the city, and to examine the politics around each form of regulation.
  4. To examine the notion of 'power'.
  5. To examine the process of governance as a form of city politics.
